00:11Before she became Cardi B, she was Belcalis Almanzar,
00:15born in the Bronx in 1992.
00:17Cardi says, to please her mother,
00:20she went to community college to become a history teacher.
00:23But Cardi decided that a teaching salary
00:26wasn't going to be good enough.
00:28So she quit to pursue a more lucrative career
00:31in entertainment.
00:33First, she became a stripper,
00:35then an influencer on social media,
00:37a reality TV star,
00:39and finally, a hit rapper.
00:41But Cardi hasn't forgotten about her original career path.
00:45She still loves history.
00:47Presidential history.
00:49Cardi memorized the list of every U.S. president in order,
00:53from Washington to Trump.
00:55But she has one clear favorite.
00:57Franklin Delano Roosevelt.
00:59Why?
01:00Well, she does have the same birthday as his wife Eleanor,
01:03October 11th.
01:04But most of all,
01:06Cardi says she admires what FDR accomplished
01:08during the Great Depression and World War II.
01:11This man was suffering from polio at the time of his presidency,
01:15and yet all he was worried about was trying to make America great.
01:18If it wasn't for him,
01:20old people wouldn't even get Social Security.
01:22Cardi's love of FDR
01:24even caught the attention of Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders,
01:27who used Cardi's comments to echo the importance of Social Security.
01:31As the first female rapper with two No. 1 solo hits,
01:35Cardi B isn't just making history.
01:37She's also inspired by it.
