00:00I take it you two have worked together before?
00:03Yeah, ten years ago. I was assigned to Scotland Yard.
00:06Holmes worked homicide.
00:08You said there were also signs of a struggle in the master bedroom?
00:15She's in the safe room.
00:16What safe room?
00:17The one behind that wall.
00:19The extra weight of the safe room's steel reinforcements can cause the floor around it to decline slightly,
00:23creating a slope between one and five degrees.
00:27Sometimes I hate it when I'm right.
00:34Beemark!
00:35The show is Sherlock Holmes in Manhattan, in America, modern day.
00:40Your father told me he said you were a detective.
00:42I was a consultant at Scotland Yard.
00:44I wasn't paid for my services and therefore I answered to no one but myself.
00:47We get to shine a lens on a different side to him because of the time and the place that our story is set.
00:54When I read the script I was really excited to see that Sherlock was so incredibly colorful
00:58and that they were willing to push the envelope a little bit.
01:02My name is Joan Watson. I've been hired by your father to be your sober companion.
01:06I'm here to make the transition from your rehab to the routine of your everyday life as smooth as possible.
01:11This is definitely a gender change for what's been historically known as Dr. John Watson.
01:17They start this relationship where she's sort of protecting him and trying to figure him out
01:23and then at the same time he knows her more than she knows him, so it's interesting.
01:25You're a doctor, you understand.
01:27I'm not a doctor.
01:28Well, you're a doctor, a surgeon, judging by your hands.
01:31He's a bit of an outcast. He's eccentric, he's brilliant, he's definitely an outsider.
01:36He's an alien, you know. He's so different from the rest of us.
01:39There are two broken glasses here. You can tell from the volume of shards.
01:42Obviously she was pouring a glass of water for her guest when he assailed her.
01:46Right. Is that something you would do if some nutjob comes in and kicks your door in?
01:50You ask him if he's thirsty.
01:53Base of glass number two.
01:57My character doesn't really care for this guy at all.
02:00He's always questioning me, questioning my gut feelings.
02:03Holmes can't really articulate things in a very sensitive fashion.
02:08His hands were around my throat.
02:10Excellent. So you got a good look at his eyes.
02:13Correct me if I'm wrong, but a strangler can literally not be more than an arm's length from his trachea.
02:19That's what? Two, two and a half feet? I'm twice that distance from you now.
02:22I can see that your eyes are a lovely brown.
02:24I think I'd like you to leave now.
02:25Why? Because I know that you're lying.
02:26Mr. Holmes.
02:27You have the blood of an innocent woman on your hands.
02:29Perhaps you'd like to go for two or three or four.
02:31That's enough!
02:33The wonderful thing about Joan is that she comes from a more emotional place.
02:37And that value will bring a lot to their relationship.
02:41I especially like the relationship between Holmes and Watson.
02:44That really is the driving force for the piece.
02:49I need your car keys.
02:57I'm sorry.
02:59Not just for your car, but for the way I spoke to you earlier.
03:04I just...
03:05Couldn't help yourself.
03:07Yeah, I'm starting to see how that's kind of a thing with you.
03:10I want you to let me in on the rest of the plan.
03:13I happen to think there's some hope for you as an investigator.
