A seven-ton humpback whale that became stranded on a beach in Mar del Tuyú, Argentina, was returned to the sea on September 30 after a 28-hour rescue operation involving more than 30 workers, heavy machinery, and several agencies.Teams from Argentina’s Mundo Marino aquarium and the country’s coast guard, along with lifeguards, boys scouts, and volunteers were involved in the operation, according a press release from Mundo Marino.The rescue operation began on the morning of Saturday, September 29, and ended around noon on Sunday. Several unsuccessful attempts were made to push and pull the animal into the water, before it successfully was dragged out to sea by a boat on Sunday, Mundo Marino said.
