30 homes evacuated as large mill fire erupts in Rochdale

A large fire broke out at a mill in Rochdale on August 13, forcing the evacuation of dozens of residents.

According to local media, emergency crews were called to the scene at around 10:30 pm. Over 50 firefighters were involved in tackling the blaze.

Locals described being able to see flames and smoke from miles away, the crackling sounding like fireworks being set off.

Authorities advised the public to stay away from the area and close their windows and doors. The cause of the fire has not been reported.
