Miss Sapphire was rescued by Queensland bat carer Denise Wade, who found her clinging to the inside of her mother’s wing after her mother had been electrocuted by a power line. In this video, the tiny bub is seen sucking a pink, bat-shaped pacifier.Wade said it was common for electrocuted bats to be carrying a live baby under their wing so it’s important for people to call bat rescue organisations when seeing dead bats hanging from power lines. She said Miss Sapphire will be in care until March 2019 when she will be released into the wild.
