Transylvania is a region in central Romania known for mysterious castles, like the Gothic fortress associated with the legend of Dracula, that translates to dragon, and in modern times has become interpreted to mean devil. The Romani, or Roma, are a traditionally nomadic ethnic group, living mostly in Europe and the Americas and originating from the northern regions of the Indian subcontinent. Gypsies speak a language (Romany) that is related to Hindi and are believed to have originated in South Asia.
