Jimmy Kimmel appeared to cave to Sean Hannity on Sunday – at least in a sarcastic way-- after their Twitter war set the net on fire.

Kimmel admitted on Twitter that he was wrong to mock First Lady Melania Trump.

In a stunning turnaround, Kimmel wrote on April 8, "Mrs. Trump almost certainly has enough to worry about without being used as a prop to increase TV ratings."

Hannity responded on Twitter that he was busy doing something with his daughter and, "I'll have a full and comprehensive response tomorrow on [my show] Hannity."

Kimmel added, "I will take Sean Hannity at his word that he was genuinely offended by what I believed and still believe to be a harmless and silly aside referencing our First Lady's accent."

The conservative Fox News host, 56, had blasted late night TV titan Kimmel, 50, after the comedian had made fun of President Donald Trump's wife Melania, a beautiful former model.

On his ABC show, Kimmel had mimicked the First Lady's foreign accent as she read a book to children for the White House Easter event. He also told his audience there was no way Melania had helped to organize the Easter festivities, as the President had said.

Hannity cried foul, railing against what he felt was Kimmel's offensive and mean-spirited attack on Melania. The Fox News anchor, whose show Hannity is a ratings standout for the network, slammed Kimmel on TV, his radio show, and Twitter.

Also, for his Fox News show on Friday night, Hannity aired clips of "pervert Harvey Weinstein Jr" Kimmel instructing random women to feel around his private parts for an old comedy skit when he was on Comedy Central. Hannity showed how in his comedy salad days, Kimmel had also donned blackface for a basketball skit.

Kimmel, who also hosts the Oscars, blasted Trump fan and friend Hannity right back, tweeting his rival, "Don't worry—just keep tweeting—you'll get back on top! (or does Trump prefer you on bottom?) Either way, keep your chin up big fella..XO."

Also, Kimmel wrote to Hannity on Twitter, "When your clown makeup rubs off on Trump's ass, does it make his butt look like a Creamsicle?" That remark offended some gay people, as Daily Beast has reported.

On April 8, Kimmel finally called Uncle, tweeting in a long post to Hannity, "While I admit I did have fun with our back and forth, after some thought, I realize that the level of vitriol from all sides (mine and me included) does nothing good for anyone and, in fact, is harmful our county."

Kimmel also referenced how he and his wife had faced "vile attacks" and "wishes for death on my infant son," after the liberal host had stood up for Obamacare.

He continued, "I, too, will give my words more thought and recognize my role in inciting their hatefulness. By lampooning Sean Hannity's deference to the President, I most certainly did not intend to belittle or upset members of the gay community and to those who took offense, I apologize."

After saying Melania has more to worry about than being a TV prop, in an apparent sarcastic dig about the claims that Donald had cheated on her years ago, Kimmel wrote, snarkily, that, "I am hopeful that Sean Hannity will learn from this too and continue his newly-found advocacy for women, immigrants and First Ladies and that he will triumph in his heroic battle against harassment and perversion."
