This ‘Walking Dead’ actor came out in a moving YouTube video. Daniel Newman says that he decided to publicly come out after having an eye-opening encounter with a fan at a homeless shelter for LGBTQ youth. “This girl came up to me, and she was like, ‘Thank you so much for helping out with the LGBT [community].’ And she said it like she didn’t deserve it,” recalls Newman, “And I was like, ‘Why?’ and she said, ‘Because you’re straight.’…it hit me like a gut punch.” Now, when he’s not slaying zombies Daniel is using his visibility to make an impact. According to Newman, people around him in the entertainment industry discouraged him from coming out publicly, saying that it would destroy all of the hard work he’s put into to making it in acting, but he doesn’t care. “Standing up for these kids that I’m seeing in these shelters, in high schools and middle schools - that’s what’s important. That’s what matters.” Respect.
