PRESENTED BY MOA JANES
The singer Diana Rasina offers with her project "Romanian Tales" an impressive overview of the musical folklore of Romania, beyond the clichés about the south-eastern European music. With her expressive voice she wanders the regions of her homeland and tells musical stories about love and longing, love for life and transience.
Her acoustic quartet includes the Bulgarian Dimitar Karamitev on the Kaval (the shepherd's flute), the Hungarian Laszlo Racz on the Cimbalom and the Serb Jovan Torbica on the double bass. Together they revive vibrant dance tunes and festive wedding songs as well as gentle love songs and sighing laments. Through the unique instrumentation, the multicultural ensemble not only provides acoustic extravagance, but also a sound which, on the one hand, is deeply rooted in tradition and at the same time is strikingly timeless. With a large portion of musicality, the quartet creates a seamless blend of rural originality and metropolitan finesse. For the CD "Romanian Tales" Diana Rasina and her ensemble received a nomination for the prize of the German record critics (Preis der deutschen Schallplattenkritik).
