KL 10 Pathu, one of the most anticipated movies in the Ramzan season, keeps the hype created by its beautiful trailer. The movie shows all the potential to sweep this season. The movie is fresh from top to bottom and has some wonderful moments of acting. KL 10 Pathu is a tribute to the life in Malabar, which buzzing with Football fever, tasty food, music and love trance dents religion and other barriers.

The movie revolves around Ahmed, played by Unni Mukundan, who is a boy-next-door and jovial type, spirited with love. Ahammed is like any Malabar boy, intense and simple at the same time. Whether it’s the love for football or his woman, the guy keeps his intensity and sincerity.

The story begins with flavors of the popular seven-a-side football tournaments in Malabar and a rhythmic Malabar slag. Ahmed quickly befriends the audience because of his innocence and familiarity arises from commonness. The movie has a smooth sailing of back-to-back events for some time. It takes a storm inside when Ahammed starts to develop feelings towards Sadiya, played by Chandini Sreedharan. The plot thickens and gushing towards a tight climax when Ahammed’s football team getting ready to play an important match which will decide the plight of his love, life, and the movie.What makes the film a surprise is the keenness with which debutante Muhsin Parari puts together various elements peculiar to Malabar. The director flawlessly captures current social and economic scenario in Malappuram and present them with a flavor of humor and sarcasm. KL 10 Pathu is one of the best tributes by a filmmaker to the land and culture he belongs to.

Even though, KL 10 tells the story of Ahammed, it is not a one man show. The movie holds the team spirit of football and Ahammed gets enormous support from the supporting cast. Without them the movie cannot take off from the ground. There are some stunning performances from Aneesh Gopinath as Yusuf, Lukman Lukku as Nasru, Aju Varghese as Faisal, Ashra Muhammed as Ashique, Saiju Kurup as Ajmal Ikka, Neeraj Madhav as Afthab, and Ahammed Siddhique as Roshan. They capture rhythm and slang peculiar to Malabar brilliantly to enact the team spirit and friendship. Sreenath Bhasi, Mamukkoya, and Sivaji Guruvayur also contribute a fair share to the totality and team spirit of the film.

Unni Mukundan transforms himself mentally and physically to play Ahammed, which is his career best performance till date. The actor resurrects from the ashes of his previous failures and comes out confidently as a mass hero. It’s a joy to watch Unni Mukundan behaves naturally as Ahammed. Chandini Sreedharan made her Mollywood debut in style and grace. The duo works out a lovable chemistry between them on screen.
