NEW YORK — A pit bull was shot and killed by a New York police officer early on Sunday after it attacked his colleague.
The two officers were dispatched following a call at a home for an illegal eviction after midnight in Jamaica, Queens, according to New York Daily News.
When they got there, the door opened and a pit bull came charging out. The dog attacked one of the officers and bit down on his hand.
As his colleague fought with the pit bull, the other officer drew his gun and fired,
killing the dog on scene.
The injured officer was taken to North Shore University hospital to be treated for tinnitus and the bite wound.
