Charity Save the Children has drawn attention to the lives of children involved in the migrant crisis by releasing a viral video, on Monday (May 9), showing the plight of a fictionalized British girl fleeing the UK. The piece, also shown from the girl's perspective, showed war breaking out on British soil and was viewed more than 53 million times.Since being posted online on Monday the most current release has been viewed more than 230,000 times.The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees said in a statement on February 2016 that more than 340 children have drowned in the eastern Mediterranean, not including bodies lost at sea since September 2015.Conflict in the Middle East and north Africa -- and particularly the violent war in Syria -- have largely been responsible for around 1.2 million migrants who have streamed into the EU since the start of 2015.
