I went to see "Endgame" at the Kirk Douglas Theater in Los Angeles, CA last night and it was simply impressive to say the least. The actors were impeccable.
CRITIC'S CHOICE
"The best rendering of the play I've encountered…done to perfection."
—Charles McNulty, Los Angeles Times
"There may be no finer interpreter of Beckett living."
—Evan Henerson, TheaterMania
"Mandell and McGovern's stage camaraderie is a wonder to behold."
—Shari Barrett, Broadway World
"Nothing is funnier than unhappiness" in the absurdist world of Samuel Beckett. Such is the case in Endgame, considered to be his greatest single work. Told with Beckett’s signature macabre humor, this "grim joke on the futility of life" (The New York Times) finds four characters somewhere between life and death as they prepare for oblivion.
Endgame is directed by and features Alan Mandell, returning to Center Theatre Group beside his celebrated Waiting for Godot counterpart Barry McGovern along with Anne Gee Byrd, James Greene, and Charlotte Rae. Anne Gee Byrd and Charlotte Rae will alternate in the role of Nell.

00:00You pollute the air. Get me ready. I'm going to bed.
00:06I've just got you up.
00:07And what of it?
00:08I can't be getting you up and putting you to bed every five minutes. I have things to do.
00:13Did you ever see my eyes?
00:15No.
00:16Did you never have the curiosity, while I was sleeping, to take off my glasses and look at my eyes?
00:23Pulling back the lids? No.
00:26One of these days, I'll show them to you. It seems they've gone all white.
00:36What time is it?
00:37Same as usual.
00:38Have you looked?
00:39Yes.
00:40Well?
00:41Zero.
00:42Did it need to rain?
00:43It won't rain.
00:44Apart from that, how do you feel?
00:46I don't complain.
00:47You feel normal?
00:48I tell you, I don't complain.
00:50Do you feel a little strange?
00:54Clove?
00:55Yes?
00:56Have you not had enough?
00:57Yes! Of what?
01:00Of this. This thing.
01:03I always had. Not you.
01:05Then there's no reason for it to change.
01:08It may end. All life long, the same questions, the same answers.
