00:00Derek, don't you think you ought to tell Lord Brace did what you heard?
00:09I have.
00:10What happened?
00:11Oh, he denied it, of course.
00:12At first he was very angry, then he laughed.
00:16He said he admired my courage, but not my common sense.
00:19You could see he was frightened.
00:20And then quite suddenly he asked me if it was Stefan who had told me.
00:24Why should he ask that?
00:25Because it's true.
00:26Then he fired you.
00:27No, not quite.
00:28He was too smart.
00:29He was too smart for that.
00:31He just said that he hated to see me make such a fool of myself.
00:33I couldn't go on being his secretary, of course, but he would give me a three-year's assignment
00:37in West Africa.
00:38How nice of him.
00:39Yes, wasn't it?
00:40And that's not all.
00:41In view of my long and faithful service, he proposed to make me a present of 10,000 pounds.
00:4610,000 pounds?
00:47What for?
00:49Yes, what for?
00:51Derek, my father's the cleverest man in the world.
00:54You've got to tell him what you just told me and let him advise you.
00:56I don't want you mixed up in this.
00:58Look, he's in the next room now.
00:59Let me talk to him.
01:00No, I'd rather do it my own way.
01:02What are you going to do?
01:03I've got a date with Lord Braisted in half an hour.
01:06I'm going to tell him what he can do with his West African job and give him a chance
01:09to call the whole thing off.
01:10And if he doesn't?
01:11If he doesn't, I shall take the morning plane to Prague, warn Stefan, and get conclusive
01:15evidence.
01:16Derek, I wish I could go with you.
01:18So do I.
01:19Promise not to do anything silly till I get back.
01:22I'll try not to.
01:23Derek.
01:29I do love you, sir.
01:31I began to wonder if you were ever going to tell me.
01:34I meant to wait until all this was over.
01:36Glad you didn't.
01:37Yes, but let's not tell anybody else until it is all over.
01:41Anything you say, sir.
01:42I've really got to go.
01:44Darling, don't let him bully you.
01:47I won't.
01:49Let me know what happens.
01:51Promise me if anything goes wrong while I'm away, I'll talk to father.
01:54All right.
01:59Goodbye, darling.
02:00Bye.
02:01Come back safe.
