Tiruchendur located on the sea-shore near Tuticorin amongst the remains of Gandhamadana Parvatam or Santhanamalai (Sandal Mountain).The temple commemorates the place where Murugan worshiped Shiva and won a decisive victory over demon Soorapadman known as Soorasamharam.
