00:01:30September the 1st, 1923, will long be remembered by the citizens of Japan.
00:01:40The toll of death, 300,000. A frantic call for aid.
00:01:46America, the great humanitarian nation, appeals to its people.
00:01:51America swiftly answers the need of a stricken country.
00:01:54Result? Millions of dollars oversubscribed.
00:01:58Food, blankets, medical supplies, doctors, nurses, all.
00:02:03American mercy. It is tradition.
00:02:07Living examples of this tradition, for years in Japan,
00:02:10Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Morey, American medical evangelists, were first to aid the injured.
00:02:17Throughout the night, hungry, tired, chilling, they worked among the dead for signs of life.
00:02:23They found it in an orphaned lad, Ken Kenikichi.
00:02:27♪♪
00:02:39Bewildered by loss and tragedy, stunned by the memories of that awful night,
00:02:43the lad clung to Mrs. Morey as he would a mother.
00:02:47♪♪
00:02:58Realizing he needs a mother's care, the Moreys adopt the homeless child.
00:03:02Ken Kenikichi enters a new world where the atmosphere of freedom prevails for all.
00:03:09♪♪
00:03:18Like a liberty bell announcing financial independence to all who accept a liberal education,
00:03:24the school bell calls Ken's former schoolmates to their classrooms.
00:03:29This same opportunity has extended the Japanese way.
00:03:32This, too, is American tradition.
00:03:35♪♪
00:03:40In traditional America, along its western coast,
00:03:44innocent-looking temples like these veil human monstrosities of deception.
00:03:49Here, the fanatical order of Bushido has reached across the Pacific to pay homage to samurai.
00:03:56Samurai, symbol of the god of war, a creed of hate, lust, and death.
00:04:03Child of Nippon, Ken, to escape the problems of education, turns to the mastery of art,
00:04:10unaware that destiny stalks his path.
00:04:14♪♪
00:04:26Are you Japanese?
00:04:27Yes, sir. I'm of the family of Kabura.
00:04:30Spiritual advisor to the Japanese, of Monterey, in Salinas.
00:04:35I'm the prince. Your work is most interesting.
00:04:42I predict a great future for you.
00:04:47By the way, are you the son of Dr. Mori of San Francisco?
00:04:52Yes. Do you know them?
00:04:54I know of them. Good people. Good parents for you.
00:05:00Well, I'll see you again. Goodbye.
00:05:19Samurai, symbol of the warlords of Japan.
00:05:23Into the mind of the priest flashes the symbol of samurai, urging him to fulfill his promise.
00:05:33The priest entices the lad with stories of valor, the glory of his ancestors.
00:05:39In the blood-filled depths of this hypnotic, fantastic philosophy, another soul is caught.
00:05:45His first lesson, worship of the soul.
00:05:49The misleading belief that by the sword you shall live, and by the sword you shall die.
00:05:56The vow of those who follow the creed of samurai.
00:06:01♪♪
00:06:17His classmates choose to continue a sound and sane education.
00:06:22This son of Nippon, with an opportunity to become Americanized,
00:06:26is enticed to accept the standard of behavior found in Bushido, handed down by the priest.
00:06:47♪♪
00:06:58By the light of the sun goddess we walk, protecting until death our divine tenno.
00:07:05It is the Bushido, the way of the warrior.
00:07:09We sons of the samurai live by the sword and die by the sword.
00:07:17Repeat after me.
00:07:19Though I walk through fire, though I walk through fire,
00:07:23and feel the pains of all torture, and feel the pains of all torture,
00:07:28though my body be torn apart, though my body be torn apart,
00:07:32and all my senses destroyed, and all my senses destroyed,
00:07:36I will, I will as a true samurai, as a true samurai,
00:07:41never complain, never complain, but fight on, but fight on until death, until death.
00:07:48♪♪
00:08:01Piercing zones of thought to plant fabulous dreams of honor and glory,
00:08:06the priest finds fertile soil to sow satanic seed in a youthful consciousness,
00:08:12instilling the illusion that the god of war presents the key to eternal life.
00:08:19Samurai, the symbol of the god of war.
00:08:24Aware of Ken's deception and feeling he needs American companionship,
00:08:29the Moris adopt another sound.
00:08:32♪♪
00:08:40The magnetic power of samurai controls its victim.
00:08:45Why are your parents sending you?
00:08:47They are sending me to Germany to study medicine, and then to Paris to study art.
00:08:53That's good.
00:08:55I think this trip is worked by the hand of the spirit that guides us.
00:08:59In Europe you will meet secret agents from many nations,
00:09:03each scheming and planning to destroy each other.
00:09:07Study their methods.
00:09:09No matter what you do in the service, for Arteno it's holy.
00:09:14No matter what the hypocritical Christian may say,
00:09:18they think stealing, killing, and lying are sins.
00:09:24Because nothing is sin when done for Arteno.
00:09:29♪♪
00:09:34Then came news long waited for,
00:09:37revealing Ken's progression during his tour of Europe in the field of art.
00:09:41The pen omitted telling one important secret.
00:09:45In addition to the study of art, long hours were spent in the presence of other masters,
00:09:50masters of a different art.
00:09:53Many Yoshido priests do not live in Japan,
00:09:56but all Yoshido priests work for the warlords of Japan to dominate the world.
00:10:03♪♪
00:10:31As years of study draw to a close, a mother anxiously awaits the son's return,
00:10:36little realizing that a greater unconscious attraction exists for an oily-tongued Yoshido priest.
00:10:42♪♪
00:10:47A weak little boy made hard through the years,
00:10:50returns with bright honors and a heart of stone,
00:10:54a victim of samurai.
00:10:57Ha ha!
00:11:01Don't be haughty, don't be haughty.
00:11:03Why not?
00:11:04We must act like Americans.
00:11:06Everything Japanese is under suspicion.
00:11:09Oh, I understand.
00:11:11Well, let me look you over.
00:11:16Oh, not bad, not bad.
00:11:20Your confidence in me has been always great.
00:11:24I hope I can prove worthy.
00:11:26You will.
00:11:29Your letters were very encouraging,
00:11:32but what is the real situation in Europe?
00:11:35Europe is in a state of a political turmoil,
00:11:39just like a simmering pot,
00:11:42with a little more fuel and the pot will boil over.
00:11:46Exactly.
00:11:48Germany and the fascist groups really trust Japan.
00:11:53They will readily agree with us
00:11:55on their plan to conquer the world.
00:11:58Hmm.
00:11:59Monest Knan.
00:12:01So it's good.
00:12:04One day is close at hand.
00:12:09Let's talk about yourself.
00:12:10What about yourself?
00:12:12Me?
00:12:13I'm a painter of a note.
00:12:15A modern.
00:12:17Modern?
00:12:19Modern.
00:12:22Of course, of course.
00:12:24What?
00:12:26I paint upside down and in the dark.
00:12:31Oh, my.
00:12:32Seriously, I have devised a method
00:12:35of concealing military objects in my painting.
00:12:39Military objects?
00:12:41Interesting, interesting.
00:12:43But you have to see it to believe.
00:12:46May I show you?
00:12:48You know...
00:13:08You are very kind.
00:13:14I'm glad you like my painting.
00:13:17To most people it looks silly,
00:13:20but it has its value.
00:13:22Dr. Mori.
00:13:27Excuse my English, not good.
00:13:36Excuse me.
00:13:39Oh, Dr. Mori.
00:13:41Would you please tell me
00:13:43the deeper meaning of this one?
00:13:45This one?
00:13:47In German, it's the Tibetan Zela.
00:13:51Yes.
00:13:53In French, it's the Lame de Zaval.
00:13:57Oui.
00:13:59In Italian, it is the...
00:14:02But I...
00:14:04In Italian, it is the...
00:14:07But I'm from Oklahoma.
00:14:10Well, in our language,
00:14:12it is the soul of a strong and beautiful horse.
00:14:18Oh.
00:14:20It never occurred to me that a soul had a horse.
00:14:25I mean, a horse had a soul.
00:14:28They have.
00:14:31So that's how it looks.
00:14:36It's most inspiring.
00:14:43She saw nothing.
00:14:45No one can, unless I trace the outline.
00:14:48Are you sure?
00:14:55You know, it was stupid of our agents
00:14:58to go around taking photographs of everything.
00:15:02Yes, and the law knows all agents by their first name.
00:15:05Stupid. I should say it's stupid.
00:15:07Another thing.
00:15:09I bet none of them ever got the dimension of a single object.
00:15:13But here, look.
00:15:16This bridge is scaled exactly to one-tenth of an inch to the foot.
00:15:22Yes.
00:15:23And I defy anyone to trace these lines but myself.
00:15:27But you think you can remember them?
00:15:29I don't have to.
00:15:31No.
00:15:32The Japanese characters are hidden in the veins of these leaves.
00:15:36Here.
00:15:38And here.
00:15:40Nice.
00:15:43Do you know what this means?
00:15:50Nice.
00:15:52Dr. Mori.
00:15:54I'm sure you can convince Tokyo of the value of this idea.
00:15:57When can you leave?
00:16:00Any time.
00:16:02But I think I should have another reason for going there.
00:16:06So as to avoid suspicion.
00:16:08I thought of that.
00:16:12All right.
00:16:18Congratulations, Dad.
00:16:20A four.
00:16:21Where's Mark?
00:16:22I must tell her, too.
00:16:24Mother.
00:16:25Yes.
00:16:26What's all the excitement?
00:16:28Guess what.
00:16:29I have an appointed curator of Japanese art.
00:16:32And I'm going to Japan to select all the pieces for the Japanese exhibit at the Golden Gate Exposition here.
00:16:39Why, congratulations, Ken.
00:16:42I'm so proud of you.
00:16:47Where's Frank?
00:16:48I must tell him, too.
00:16:49He's up in his room finishing up with his studies.
00:16:51He's alone?
00:16:59Arriving in Japan, Ken seeks permission to use his subversive art.
00:17:03He plans to consult superiors of the Black Dragon Society, members of which are followers of Bushido.
00:17:21Here's the panic majesty, Horosho Namakura, director of spies and saboteurs.
00:17:51And here, sanctioned to be of service to his country, is met with suspicion and amusement.
00:18:22Ah, Mr. Bakashi.
00:18:30Sir, look at this.
00:18:36It's a mountain.
00:18:39Naturally, when a veil of paint disguises vital points along the California coast,
00:18:44how could such futuristic design be valued until what is concealed be revealed?
00:18:49Or prove more valuable when unveiled?
00:19:19You are here, Mr. Bakashi.
00:19:23You came here on the 11th.
00:19:27I invite you to come with me.
00:19:30There is no nation in the world that distrusts its own people like Japan.
00:19:35And the warlords of that nation stand preeminently above all others in distrusting its agents,
00:19:42especially Americanized Japanese.
00:19:46Released while those in authority ponder over Ken's honesty of purpose,
00:19:51the son of Nippon renews acquaintance with the city of his birth.
00:19:55Again, he pays respect to the symbol of samurai,
00:19:59while the ever-watchful eye of the Black Dragon Society records his every move.
00:20:05Slaves to Shintoism, from cradle to grave,
00:20:18from the divine emperor down to the warlords and masses of Japan,
00:20:22Yoshido plays an important part.
00:20:25Tender, pliable minds molded into belief that jests and sneers await in afterlife
00:20:33those unwilling to die for their sacred emperor.
00:20:36For the brave and daring, a warrior's heaven waits,
00:20:40filled with the joys of victory.
00:20:42Failure is the mark of the coward.
00:20:45The only redemption, self-destruction,
00:20:48after the method followed in the ritual of samurai.
00:20:51A powerful plan for creating death in preference to failing the warlords,
00:20:56he watches little feet in tiny slippers,
00:20:59made to dance to the tune of Yoshido treachery,
00:21:02in bondage to the god of war from birth to death.
00:21:26Good morning.
00:21:30How are you?
00:21:31I'm fine.
00:21:33I see.
00:21:35Good.
00:21:48Say, how am I doing?
00:21:51The whole government has heard of your work, but they don't trust you.
00:21:55They think you could be a clever American spy.
00:21:58Otherwise, you'd get a very good assignment.
00:22:02Why not?
00:22:04For one thing, you're American parents.
00:22:06Another, you make too much about Bushido.
00:22:10Our now leaders here, followers of our national faith?
00:22:14Yes, of course.
00:22:15But it's taken for granted over here.
00:22:17It is like life and death.
00:22:19One just don't talk about them.
00:22:21We live Bushido day and night.
00:22:24Thanks.
00:22:26If I ever have a chance, I would see that you get back to America.
00:22:30I sure would like to get back to San Francisco.
00:22:33I went to the university there.
00:22:35You did?
00:22:54You know Shanghai?
00:23:06Arriving in Shanghai, allowed the appearance of freedom,
00:23:10this demon in human shape sees the hungry Chinese jostling for food.
00:23:16An idea strikes him.
00:23:18In the days that follow, he gathers innocent-looking pictures
00:23:22under the spying gaze of agents for the warlords.
00:24:15Kin is brought before the Black Dragon Society at Shanghai.
00:24:42Oh, you are American.
00:24:45You call yourself a Japanese-American.
00:24:47What are you doing here?
00:24:49Causing more trouble?
00:24:50Haven't I got enough trouble with all the dumb agents and crazy Chinese?
00:24:54Why are you bringing this by here?
00:24:56Why don't you shoot him?
00:24:57Can't you see how busy I am?
00:25:01Wait!
00:25:02You Chinese drive me crazy.
00:25:11You make picture of Chinese doing nice things.
00:25:14I know.
00:25:15To show how bad, how great Japanese army.
00:25:18You are like all Americans.
00:25:20You are a spy.
00:25:23You mean these photographs?
00:25:38Guess what I thought.
00:25:39A spy.
00:25:41If you were not a Japanese spy, I'd blow your brain out myself.
00:25:44You are a traitor to your people and your emperor.
00:25:52What have you to say?
00:25:53What can you say?
00:25:54Nothing.
00:25:57Well?
00:25:59Well?
00:26:00Well?
00:26:01Evidence.
00:26:10Pictures that portray one thing and mean another.
00:26:13Ken paints in emblems of the rising sun on the garments of Chinese missionaries and nurses
00:26:19to give the impression that the Japanese show great kindness toward the Chinese.
00:26:24This done to stem the tide of rumors of Japanese atrocities in China.
00:26:32What is your most honorable family name?
00:26:34I humbly answer to the name of Dr. Kenikichi Mori.
00:26:43Dr. Mori.
00:26:47I never cared.
00:26:50I'm very sorry to make a mistake.
00:26:52I give you reception if I have known.
00:26:54Have a cigar.
00:26:56Dr. Mori.
00:26:57Are you here to find out about me?
00:27:00Yes.
00:27:01That and other matters.
00:27:03Other matters?
00:27:06Yes.
00:27:08Coming back to the pictures.
00:27:10Very good.
00:27:11Fine work.
00:27:12You know, they should go a long way to offset the bad stories going out of here.
00:27:18I'm sorry.
00:27:19You know, they should go a long way to offset the bad stories going out of here.
00:27:26I mean the anti-Japanese propaganda.
00:27:29Anti-Japanese.
00:27:31Anti-Japanese.
00:27:33It's that Englishman.
00:27:35He's to blame.
00:27:36If I can only catch him outside that international settlement.
00:27:42What Englishman?
00:27:49Here he is.
00:27:54Oh.
00:27:55Steve.
00:27:57I know him.
00:27:58An old school chum from London.
00:28:00A good plan.
00:28:03What do you think he was doing?
00:28:04But you don't understand.
00:28:05He's the minister of our whole divine nation.
00:28:07He's the reporter that's sending out all those bad reports.
00:28:14I'll look him up.
00:28:15Perhaps I can persuade him to change.
00:28:24Yes.
00:28:25Good idea.
00:28:26Well.
00:28:27Sorry.
00:28:28Sorry enough.
00:28:36Lust for blood.
00:28:37The power that controls this samurai.
00:28:41Lust for blood.
00:28:42The power that controls this samurai.
00:29:01My great service to your country and divine panel.
00:29:05I will arrange a special plane for your trip to Peking.
00:29:09To Peking?
00:29:10Yes.
00:29:11Don't you know?
00:29:12No.
00:29:13No?
00:29:15Yeah.
00:29:16No.
00:29:27Peking.
00:29:28Sacred forbidden city of China.
00:29:34Peking.
00:29:35Sacred forbidden city of China.
00:29:54Heading the invading Japanese army at Peking,
00:29:57General Tsujiyama received sealed orders regarding Ken from Tokyo.
00:30:04General Tsujiyama.
00:30:05Please take care of the American.
00:30:07Wait.
00:30:08General Tsujiyama.
00:30:09Please take care of the American.
00:30:12General Tsujiyama.
00:30:13General Tsujiyama.
00:30:14General Tsujiyama.
00:30:35You haven't traveled a long way.
00:30:37Not a long way for me.
00:30:39It was the shortest way to see you.
00:30:41To see me?
00:30:44Chinese?
00:30:47Perhaps to repopulate this place?
00:30:50Ha, ha, ha, ha, ha.
00:30:52Exactly why I came.
00:30:53To learn the method from you to be used in America.
00:30:58What do you want?
00:30:59It was not my idea to come here.
00:31:01I was sent.
00:31:02Perhaps those who sent me can better answer your question.
00:31:06I'm worried what they think.
00:31:09What is your real purpose?
00:31:10I can only add this.
00:31:12It's very important work to be done in California
00:31:14before you invade the United States.
00:31:19I wonder if you are strong enough.
00:31:21Well, then I will have to find this out for myself.
00:31:25What is your real attitude toward Americans?
00:31:29I see.
00:31:30I will also have to find this out.
00:31:42Strong stuff, am I right?
00:32:12♪♪
00:32:42♪♪
00:33:02Ha, ha, ha, ha.
00:33:04Ha, ha, ha, ha.
00:33:06♪♪
00:33:18He lied.
00:33:21He lied.
00:33:22Ha, ha, ha.
00:33:23Lie.
00:33:25This innocent Chinese girl only climbed.
00:33:29Her refusal to swear allegiance to the cause of the warlords of Japan.
00:33:34Ha, ha, ha, ha.
00:33:38Ha, ha, ha, ha.
00:34:05What do you think?
00:34:11She's a wife.
00:34:20Ha, ha, ha, ha, ha.
00:34:23Ha, ha, ha, ha, ha.
00:34:27♪♪
00:34:36Teaching?
00:34:38Ha, ha, ha.
00:34:39Teaching?
00:34:40So that's how.
00:34:42Ha, ha, ha, ha, ha.
00:34:45Ah.
00:34:48In front of us to test how far Ken will go,
00:34:51General Tsujiyama conceives a plan to make the part he plays in testing Ken seem real.
00:34:58♪♪
00:35:22This is your commission to organize the Japanese in the United States into a semi-military organization
00:35:30so we can carry out our plans.
00:35:37This document is your reward.
00:35:39You are hereby appointed governor of California to be officially inaugurated the day we capture the states.
00:35:48I feel very humbled, faced with such a great responsibility.
00:35:52However, your orders will be carried out.
00:36:07I will trust no one with the plans I have made for invasion of America.
00:36:12I will do it myself.
00:36:14First, we will catch the coast of China.
00:36:18Indo-China and Burma, East Indies, and then we'll be ready for America.
00:36:25We will strike Pearl Harbor and Alaska and then quickly to San Francisco
00:36:31and then other points along the coast.
00:36:44This is the token of our meeting.
00:36:56It was the sword of the great Samurai Michito, your ancestor.
00:37:15Mom, Dad!
00:37:17The seemingly impossible becomes reality.
00:37:20Why, Ken!
00:37:22Glad to see you.
00:37:23Gee, but you're looking well.
00:37:24Oh, mother of mine.
00:37:27So glad to see you.
00:37:29Oh, yes.
00:37:31And a lovely trip, I suppose.
00:37:33Pupil returns home to his master.
00:37:37It is best that none of our Nisi knows anything about our plans.
00:37:43Only the true and tastiest Shindos can be trusted.
00:37:50No other Japanese except yourself must know of my work.
00:37:57And I think it is advisable when you speak of me only as Taishanurai.
00:38:07You have climbed many rungs of the ladder.
00:38:11Make sure the ladder leans against a firm wall.
00:38:17You are that wall.
00:38:20Venerable Samurai.
00:38:26Now, by what authority do you speak to our people?
00:38:32We are not yet sure.
00:38:35Look.
00:38:53I expected you to get a commission to guide us in carrying out our plan.
00:38:58But you have done better.
00:39:00You have succeeded in becoming our ruler.
00:39:04Don't you see?
00:39:06The members of the Fukikai would pay no attention to any less authority.
00:39:13And that was the principal reason for it.
00:39:16The principal reason?
00:39:24The son of Bushido engulfed by the power of Samurai.
00:39:37Contrary to the ravings of the war mongers, I'm convinced Japan will do everything in her power
00:39:46to keep the friendship of this great United States.
00:39:52And when the Chinese affair is cleared up, you will find that great good has been done over there.
00:40:08There's some photographs here.
00:40:14This is what actually happened in Shanghai.
00:40:18You know, I used to believe all that propaganda about Japanese...
00:40:24Accepting the doctored photographs as real, the trusting friends of the Morris believed the preposterous lies.
00:40:32But one composite set of pictures Kenikichi failed to show.
00:40:37Warlord-owned rolling mills and factories.
00:40:40Perpetual weeding and spinning machinery.
00:40:43Dyes and casts, turning out guns, cannons, supplies for a nation with an army and navy preparing to conquer the world.
00:40:55Day and night, furnaces melting ore into white-hot metal, poured, then shaped by a thousand molds.
00:41:13Nor does he reveal he is secretly sketching vital points of interest to saboteurs.
00:41:29Factories, roads and bridges, inroads for invasion.
00:41:42This is a complete map of California.
00:41:45Our master plan.
00:41:47Every road, railroad, and other objects have key numbers.
00:41:54For instance, this is a railroad crossing.
00:41:58There must be no mistake.
00:42:00Each group of our workers will have a complete map in these paintings.
00:42:08We've done it very well, but there's no way of finding explosives in this country without being traced.
00:42:17Is it possible to smuggle them in from Japan?
00:42:22Yes.
00:42:24Our fishing boats meet the big freighters off the south coast and it is possible.
00:42:34Another thing Ken keeps secret.
00:42:36Harmless-looking fishing boats plying their trade up and down the western coast, presumably fishing.
00:42:42But under the cover of darkness, these boats meet lurking freighters, exchanging supplies for high explosives for the crippling of American industry,
00:42:52when future orders from Tokyo sets the hour to strike.
00:42:56Night and day, the work goes on.
00:43:27Wreck and ruin concealed in false bottom boxes, lightly covered by produce.
00:43:37Another link in the chain.
00:43:40A presumably innocent-looking Japanese truck garden barn, where boxes containing death and destruction are stored,
00:43:48awaiting the hour when a well-planned surprise attack will announce to the world Japan's invasion of the American coast.
00:43:56The voice of samurai speaks.
00:43:59Members of the Bushido told the part they will play in the coming invasion.
00:44:04Mom, I will be back in a couple of days.
00:44:20Another speaking campaign.
00:44:22Well, take care of yourself.
00:44:24Thanks.
00:44:26Well, Frank, I'm home again.
00:44:28What's your hurry?
00:44:30I thought you were staying to dinner.
00:44:32I'm on the train.
00:44:35Mother tells me that you're going to join the army.
00:44:38Yes, I'm signing up tomorrow.
00:44:42What is it?
00:44:43The uniform?
00:44:45The little blonde?
00:44:46Or just a good old American yen for adventure?
00:44:50A little bit of all three.
00:44:53I'd be proud of you, old boy.
00:44:55Go to it.
00:44:58If we should go to war against Japan, I hope you will bring back Toto's helmet.
00:45:08Bye, Frank.
00:45:10Good luck.
00:45:12Chin up.
00:45:15Goodbye.
00:45:16Thanks.
00:45:28Well, what's ailing you?
00:45:31It's Ken, Mother.
00:45:33I hate to tell you this, but Ken is working for Japan against this country.
00:45:38What?
00:45:39Yes, and it's something big.
00:45:41How can you even think such a thing?
00:45:44He's just as patriotic as any of us.
00:45:46Mother, I want to show you something.
00:45:50I found this in his trunk.
00:45:52Read it.
00:45:54This looks quite official.
00:46:07Governor of California, now that is a funny joke.
00:46:11Ken will have a lot of fun showing this around.
00:46:14Mother, this is no laughing matter.
00:46:17This is serious.
00:46:19Ken is a spy.
00:46:20A spy for Japan?
00:46:23Never.
00:46:24He couldn't.
00:46:25Why, he has much less respect for them than we have.
00:46:28A spy.
00:46:29He couldn't.
00:46:31This paper's a joke.
00:46:32This is nothing.
00:46:34Get ready.
00:46:35We're going to his studio.
00:46:36Wait till I show you what I found there.
00:46:39Oh, well.
00:46:40All right, call your father and tell him to meet us there while I get ready.
00:46:43But still, I don't believe it.
00:46:46You will.
00:46:56Here it is, Dad.
00:47:00Ken didn't do all this work for nothing.
00:47:02These little characters are Japanese, aren't they, Dad?
00:47:07Why, yes.
00:47:12Tunnel number 21.
00:47:22Why, this is so.
00:47:26I'm going to call the police.
00:47:27No.
00:47:30After all, he is our son.
00:47:33And you're his brother.
00:47:36Why, this would cause a scandal.
00:47:45Besides, you're going into the army.
00:47:48I don't care for myself.
00:47:50Leave it not in the way of evil.
00:47:53Thy will be done.
00:47:56Amen.
00:48:03Go ahead.
00:48:15We've done everything we could for him, haven't we?
00:48:18Everything possible.
00:48:20You're sure we're making no mistake?
00:48:23Definitely.
00:48:25It is our duty.
00:48:27As it is the duty with every American.
00:48:31To stop any plot against our country.
00:48:35It is the solemn religious duty of every believer in the almighty.
00:48:39To do his utmost to crush evil.
00:48:43176, 67, 34, 36 Wilson Avenue, Maury Studio.
00:48:50Jap named Ken Akechi.
00:48:52Wanted for questioning.
00:48:53Why, this document is authentic.
00:48:56It's preposterous.
00:49:02Omar.
00:49:03Dad.
00:49:04Come grab your drop-in.
00:49:19Well, I'll make some tea, eh?
00:49:22Oh, guess what?
00:49:23I don't have to guess, Ken.
00:49:25To think that we should live to see the day that a boy that we had called our son would turn spy against our country.
00:49:36But dad, you don't understand.
00:49:39Well, I tell you.
00:49:41I'm working with the secret agents here.
00:49:44Oh, thank heaven.
00:49:47That map and this phony document which I picked in Japan are just decoys to catch Jeff's spies.
00:49:54You understand, Ma?
00:49:56I knew it couldn't be true.
00:49:57All these suspicions.
00:49:59I knew that you could never do a thing like that.
00:50:02After all these years with us.
00:50:06Do you remember how frightened you were when we found you?
00:50:10I'll never forget your weak little smile when you realized you were safe.
00:50:16And how bewildered you were when we first brought you to America.
00:50:20You were so proud when you did so well at school.
00:50:24But when I heard about all this, I just couldn't believe it.
00:50:29If what you say is true, Ken, we've done you a terrible injustice.
00:50:33It's nothing.
00:50:35I don't blame you for thinking of me as you did.
00:50:38I was about to say, we sent Frank for the police.
00:50:45Excuse me.
00:50:52Hello?
00:50:54Yes, this is Dr. Murray.
00:51:00Yeah?
00:51:02Just a minute, please.
00:51:09Uh, please leave it to me.
00:51:12Yes.
00:51:13The voice of Samurai Six.
00:51:39What were you saying about the police, Ma?
00:51:42I was saying, we did a very stupid thing with sending Frank for the police.
00:51:47I'm glad you did.
00:51:49The police will clear up everything.
00:51:52Now, uh, shall I have that to eat?
00:51:58Loyalty to the Shinto priest, regardless of consequences.
00:52:02Loyalty to the Shinto priest, regardless of consequences.
00:52:09Last message from Tokyo.
00:52:18Ken! You!
00:52:24Even to the destruction of those who snatched him at one time from the grave.
00:52:33The end.
00:52:45Attention all cars.
00:52:47Kenikichi Mori, wanted for murder.
00:52:49Heading north.
00:52:51Coast route.
00:52:52Ground, sedan.
00:52:53That is all.
00:53:03Calling all cars.
00:53:05Calling all cars.
00:53:07Attention all cars.
00:53:18Calling all cars.
00:53:20Calling all cars.
00:53:21Calling all cars.
00:53:23Attention all cars.
00:53:32Konnichiwa.
00:53:35Our order came.
00:53:36Order?
00:53:37Yeah.
00:53:38Look.
00:53:45Then we must pass the border on quickly.
00:53:47No.
00:53:48It's too early.
00:53:49There must be no chance for slip up.
00:53:52Now, calm yourself.
00:53:59We drink tea.
00:54:00Tea?
00:54:02Yes.
00:54:11Tomorrow will be the great day.
00:54:15Now, I can tell you all.
00:54:18Man.
00:54:21Early in the morning, the great army.
00:54:26In the evening.
00:54:27Of our tiny pond.
00:54:30We smashed Pearl Harbor.
00:54:32At the same time.
00:54:35We will tear California.
00:54:37And the whole west coast in pieces.
00:54:41All lines of communication.
00:54:45Will be blown out.
00:54:47Master of California.
00:54:49Lure.
00:54:51Lure with the sword.
00:54:53That's all.
00:54:54Yes.
00:54:55That's all.
00:54:59Mind in a tangent.
00:55:02Over stimulation by hypnotic influence.
00:55:04Buries the weakened mind in the ruins of reaction.
00:55:24Hey.
00:55:26Yamaya.
00:55:27Yamaya.
00:55:29Quiet now.
00:55:30Let's offer supplication.
00:55:41I must.
00:55:44The phone.
00:55:54Hey.
00:55:55Hey.
00:55:59Lightning strikes in the midst of intrigue.
00:56:02The wires at the other end of the line are cut.
00:56:19All of them have been caught.
00:56:21All up and down the coast.
00:56:25Our plan has failed.
00:56:28I have some mistake.
00:56:29The night bloom and the depression that follows failure.
00:56:31The distant rumblings of death grow louder.
00:56:34In the mind of the advocator of samurai.
00:56:46All right now.
00:56:47Quiet.
00:56:49What happens?
00:56:51Our plan has failed.
00:56:53But the hardest.
00:56:55Too late.
00:56:57All our men arrested.
00:57:02I accept complete responsibility.
00:57:05There's only one way I can pay for my mistake.
00:57:09No.
00:57:10Not that.
00:57:12We'll find a way.
00:57:13We'll escape.
00:57:14Think of the years you've been planning.
00:57:16How foolish you talk.
00:57:18Can I relive my years?
00:57:20You are young.
00:57:21And can go on.
00:57:22You must.
00:57:24But Tokyo must know of my failure.
00:57:28And how I met my fate.
00:57:31But you may yet.
00:57:32My life is cheap.
00:57:35But my death.
00:57:37May help to keep the future sons of Tai Nippon.
00:57:41From making like mistakes.
00:57:44And it will also clear your path.
00:57:46Your path.
00:57:49You will act as my witnesses.
00:57:51Make ready quickly.
00:57:57And you will act as my kushikai.
00:57:59Can somebody else?
00:58:00No.
00:58:01You are a good swordsman.
00:58:03And as my pupil.
00:58:04You will now receive your last lesson.
00:58:06For you must know how to die.
00:58:09As a samurai.
00:58:13Watch me carefully.
00:58:16Watch my face.
00:59:16The ritual of samurai according to the mandate of Yoshido.
00:59:27Every move according to the ancient rites of Japan's warring ancestry.
00:59:32Such travesty enacted in a world striving to overcome environment to gain ultimate perfection.
00:59:39Primitive sense of savagery.
00:59:41Friendliness with death when life is so full of meaning.
00:59:44So full of purpose.
00:59:46All sacrificed upon the altar of life.
01:00:14Omi-sama.
01:00:22Omi-sama.
01:00:34Omi-sama.
01:00:45Omi-sama.
01:01:11Omi-sama.
01:01:14Omi-sama.
01:01:27This is samurai.
01:01:30The murderous philosophy of annihilation of all conquered peoples perpetrated by a genetic group of warlords.
01:01:38Yes.
01:01:39This is samurai.
01:01:44Omi-sama.
01:01:53Cover the side door.
01:01:56Give me your gun.
01:01:59Go to the back.
01:02:00The invading hordes will not forsake him.
01:02:15Refuge perhaps in a lurking submarine.
01:02:19But the voice of American justice filled the ethos.
01:02:22Get him or we will have liberty no longer.
01:02:25Bring him back.
01:02:26Bring him back.
01:02:27He will answer to us for his crimes.
01:02:30Not to the fantastic god of samurai.
