Brazil’s United Federation of Oil Workers announced that it will be joining an indefinite strike launched by other unions last week to defend the state-controlled Petrobras. The largest oil workers union in the country said they will join the strike in response to efforts by right-wing politicians to privatize the state-owned oil company. The union also opposes any changes in Brazilian laws that could allow other companies to explore for underwater oil. teleSUR
