Police sources said the call centre employee, from Gwalior in Madhya Pradesh, was returning to her PG accommodation in HSR Layout with a friend, after work at her BPO in Bommanahalli. The woman was waiting with a friend for an autorickshaw at the Electronics City junction on Hosur Road around 10pm, when a white tempo traveller stopped. The van driver and cleaner allegedly asked
the woman where she was headed and offered to drop her at her PG accommodation, police said. The incident brings back memories of the December 2012 Nirbhaya case of a paramedical student who was brutally raped in a moving van, and later died. Sources said her friend tried to dissuade her from boarding the vehicle, but she did not pay heed. Once she had boarded the van, the cleaner threatened the woman with a knife and allegedly sexually assaulted her. The assault took place even as the van passed by Madiwala police station. The van allegedly took the Intermediate Ring Road and headed towards Old Airport Road and the men raped the girl at a deserted spot along the road. The van was later driven through Silk Board Junction and St John's Hospital Road. Around 1am, they pushed her out of the van at the place where she was picked up and sped away. "When she boarded the vehicle, there was only the driver and the cleaner. They drove her to a location, which she has not been able to identity yet, and raped her," said Rohini Katoch Sepat, deputy commissioner of police, southeast. DCP Rohini Katoch-Sepat said they have definite clues in the case an the men would be arrested soon. All the CCTV footage at signals along the route taken by the vehicle are being analyzed, a police official said. The vehicle bore an Indiranagar RTO registration board. The men allegedly warned the girl that if she complained to the police, she will be eliminated. They also took away the SIM card in her mobile phone and returned the instrument to her. The woman, who stayed in the PG accommodation with her sister, somehow man
