JUSTIN SOILEAU - I'D NEVER LIE TO YOU
PRESENTED BY STEPHANIE ROBALINO
Independent folk-pop/rock singer-songwriter and Orange County, California newcomer, Justin Soileau (pronounced "swallow,") is releasing his self-titled, debut full-length album on September 14, 2012. His single, "I'd Never Lie To You" will be available for free on www.justinsoileau.com on September 1, 2012. A video for the single (directed by Soileau and Jeremiah Marsh) will be released on YouTube the same day.)
He has enlisted seasoned producer and multi-instrumentalist Martin Beal (Ambulance LTD) to produce and perform on the album. The 11-song album was recorded at The Racket Room studio in Santa Ana, CA and Beal's home in Long Beach, CA between August 2011 and July 2012. Over the better part of a year, Beal has helped Soileau bring his stripped-down folk-pop, acoustic tunes to fruition by piecing together full-band arrangements for each one.
"The majority of the songs were written in my late teens, early twenties. One song, "I'd Never Lie To You," was written when I was still in high school. The songs are very much about growing up," says Soileau about his debut. Martin Beal's production and lush arrangements ensure that Soileau's coming-of-age album doesn't come off overly sentimental and precious, while still maintaining the nostalgia and raw emotion in which Soileau's music is steeped.
Soileau enlists other OC musicians to help on the single, "I'd Never Lie To You." Singer-songwriter, Holly Pulliam, lends her vocal harmonies to the track. OC Ska band Suburban Legends frontman Vince Walker plays trumpet on the recording as well.
Justin Soileau is from Lumberton, Texas. Two years prior to making the album he moved to Orange County, CA to go through a drug and alcohol rehabilitation program. After years of creative stagnation in Texas and spending most of 2010 in treatment, he began playing and recording music again in 2011. His music has been featured on the MTVu program, "The Freshman," an upcoming episode of the PBS documentary show, "Roadtrip Nation", OC Weekly, KROQ .com, and college radio stations in California. He also participated in the 2011 OC Music Awards. He will tour the West Coast for the second time in late September/early October in support of his debut album.
